Giclée printing is a process that uses fade-resistant, archival inks and archival substrates to print on large format printers. The quality of a giclée print is far superior to all other forms of printing and is closest an artist can get to matching their original 2-D artwork.
A luminous full moon bathes the crashing surf of the north shore in its glow in “Moonrise Wave,” one of a pair of above and below collaborations between Wyland and popular surf artist Hilton Alves. Each piece captures the mood of the waters of Hawaii, while below the surface a kaleidoscope of marine life moves effortlessly around the reef. “Hilton has the rare ability to capture the soul of a wave,” Wyland says. “He uses the refracting light to frame the subtle differences between night and day in ways that could only be described as mesmerizing. In this piece, in particular, the moon, the wave, and the animals in the reef below all combine to create a setting that is peaceful, dynamic, and mysterious.”
