When he first saw the symbol on the finial of a lamp, he knew it was the one that would become the Wish Keeper’s seal. Each piece is sealed by pressing the carved symbol into the wet clay, for a lifetime of good wishes.
This artwork has made its mark in the world of ceramic art and today can be found in homes and offices around the world, sometimes a glimpse in a TV program about a celebrity home or in the pages of an architectural magazine showcasing an interior design. Each piece is crafted individually, therefore each is unique and no two pieces are, exactly alike.
Raku is a 16th century process that was used in the Orient to make very special cups for the sacred tea ceremony. They chose to use that style of firing because each piece is unique and cannot be duplicated, with the crackles and patterns from the smoke and fire.
