“Small Tuscan Style Vessel for Maui Strong" ~ Original

The vessel. "Small Tuscan Style" is a "segmented vessel". The piece is created on the wood lathe by turning a stack of wooden rings. Each ring is composed of 16 wood segments regardless of the diameter of the ring. The shape of this vessel is inspired by an ancient Roman vessel. The vessel is created from four exotic wood species; Monkeypod, Bloodwood, Mango and Holly. The "L" on the bottom and on the inside bottom are inspired by the large red letter "L" on the hillside behind the town of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. Inscribed on the bottom is "Maui Strong" to support the people of Lahaina. All proceeds of the sales of the vessel will be donated to the Maui Relief.
Adding character to the vessel are additional fine details. There is a striped segme\ Onted ring at the center of the vessel. The narrow bands at the center and the neck are actual delicate segmented rings, a detail not found in other fine art pieces.
