“Hawaiian 'Ipu' Pyrography Gourd”
6" x 7" | He'e | Mantas | Three Honu
An Ipu is a percussion instrument made from gourds used to provide a beat for hula dancing. The Ipu gourd was a cultural staple in ancient Hawaiian life, aside from a drum instrument, the Ipu served as a container for food, medicine, and water. The artist hand engraves each gourd with a pyrography pen. Therefore each Ipu Pyrography Gourd is unique and cannot be replicated. Choose from a Manta or He'e (octopus) design.
