“Paradise Found" ~ Original Collaboration
Wood & Painted Vessel | Koa, Mango, Bloodwood, & Wenge - Oil on Paper | 17" tall x 11" wide
Paradise Found" is a "segmented vessel". The piece is created on the wood lathe by turning a stack of wooden rings. Each ring is composed of 16 wood segments regardless of the diameter of the ring.
The shape of this vessel is inspired by ancient Grecian urns. The vessel is created from
four exotic wood species; Hawaiian Koa, mango, Bloodwood, and Wenge,
Adding character to the vessel are additional fine details. There is a striped segmented ring on the lower part of the vessel. The narow bands above and below the painting are actual delicate segmented rings, a detail not found in other fine art pieces. The dots on the neck of the vessel are mango inlay.
