The vessel. "Small Egyptian Style" is a "segmented vessel". The piece is created on the wood lathe by turning a stack of wooden rings. Each ring is composed of 16 wood segments regardless of the diameter of the ring. The shape of this vessel is inspired by an ancient Grecian vessel. The vessel is created from four exotic wood species; Hawaiian Koa, Bloodwood, Mango and Holly. The "L" on the bottom and on the inside bottom are inspired by the large red letter "L" on the hillside behind the town of Lahaina. Maui, Hawaii. Inscribed on the bottom is "Maui Strong" to support the people of Lahaina. 100% of the proceeds the sale of the vessel will be donated to the Maui Relief.
Adding character to the vessel are additional fine details. There is a striped segmented ring at the center of the vessel made of Mango and Bloodwood. The narrow bands at the center and at the neck of the vessel are actual delicate segmented rings, a detail not found in other fine art pieces.
