“Egyptian Style Vessel III for Maui Strong" ~ Original

The vessel. "Small Egyptian Style III" is a "segmented vessel". The piece is created on the wood lathe by turning a stack of wooden rings. Each ring is composed of 16 wood segments regardless of the diameter of the ring. The shape of this vessel is inspired by an ancient Grecian urn. The vessel is created from four exotic wood species; Hawaiian Mango, Wenge, Bloodwood, and Holly. The "L" on the bottom and on the inside bottom are inspired by the large red letter "L" on the hillside behind the town of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. Inscribed on the bottom is "Maui Strong" to support the people of Lahaina. All proceeds of the sale of the vessel will be donated to the Maui Relief Fund.
Adding character to the vessel are additional fine details. There are two striped segmented rings on the lower part and middle of the vessel. These narrow bands are actual delicate segmented rings, a detail not found in other fine art pieces. The dots on the neck of the vessel are mango inlay.
